Smart Goals

From the story about Joseph in Genesis 41, Joseph had a plan. I get this from Alastair Beggs book " tha Hand of God"
First Joseph smart goals were specific. Joseph told Pharoah in detail what needed to happen, specifying the people and the system neccessary to store food.
Second, smart goals are measurable. joseph suggeste 20 percent collection for the surplus, and easily measurable amount.
A Third charateristic of smart goals is that they are action -oriented Josephs plan would have everybody in Egypt moving into action to implement it. Even Pharoah had to get moving by finding an able admintistrator to oversee the project.
fourth, smart goals are realistic. Joseph knew his plan was workable. It wasnt a pie in the sky concoction, a silly idea.
Fifth, and finally, smart plans include a definte time frame. The time frame here was obvious, the seven years of bounty and surplus that Egypt was about to enjoy.

More importantly there is Gods Soveriegn hand in it all and Joseph knew that. But he went forth to implement it with wisdom but more importantly with good solid smart goals.
S specific
M measurable
A action-oriented
R realistic
T time frame

S Sovereign God

I love this and am always reminded of this example as I go forward in my life with goals. Have a plan!
